Description

Description

Berger et al. 2017 p.78: The up to 3 km-thick metasedimentary rocks of the Scopi Zone mark the southeastern boundary of the Gotthard Nappe. Discontinuous, thin relics of Mesozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Val Canaria -Lumbrein Zone separate the Scopi Zone from the basement of the Gotthard Nappe. VÖGELI et al.(2013) presented an exhaustive description of the lithostratigraphic relationships within the Scopi Zone. The Scopi Zone is an overturned metasedimentary sequence of Late Triassic (Rhaetian) to Middle Jurassic (Aalenian) age (Fig.14). The Stgir, Inferno and Coroi Formations represent, from old to young, the lithostratigraphic units of the Scopi Zone (ETTER 1987). In spite of the Alpine metamorphic overprint at low amphibolite-facies conditions, relics of fossils permit reconstruction of the stratigraphic relations.

p.39: The Scopi Nappe extends southeast of the Gotthard Nappe between the Passo del Lucomagno and Ilanz. It consists of an overturned sedimentary sequence of Triassic to Middle Jurassic age and of South Helvetic to Ultrahelvetic origin.
