Spillmann 1993 S.26: Die Tonale Serie ist eine inhomogene, präalpin hochmetamorphe Glimmerschieferserie mit Pegmatiten und Karbonat- und Amphibolitlinsen. Die Tonale Serie ist eng mit der ebenfalls inhomogen Pietra Rossa Fm verfingert; die Ausdehnung der Tonale Serie wird dementsprechend sehr unterschiedlich dargestellt.
